In 2015, I took a drive out to Virginia City, Montana for a little photo exploration with my Canon. It’s an easy drive with some fun sights along the way that caught my eye.
Virginia City is an old mining town that still has a few functioning shops and cafes. It can feel a bit tourist-trappy, but I always enjoy a stroll down the main street and imagining what it might have been like to live there when the west was being settled.
They have some of the old storefronts set up to show what the old shops looked like; historical items preserved in their sale displays. You can also peek inside some of the old buildings scattered beyond the main road and see how a home would have been set up for someone back then. It’s kind of crazy to imagine.
Going back through these photos reminded me how fun this little town can be for a day trip/photo adventure. I think I’d like to go back with a film camera… maybe in a month or so when the weather is warmer.
